About Us

Blame this whole shebang on the Eats.It team, who first unveiled this website in January 2007.

Doug Gates, Publisher
Since 1998, Doug has run product and ecommerce teams at companies like CNET, Musicmatch and mySimon. He has undergraduate degrees in business and engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Stanford. Doug is a proud resident of the Little Italy neighborhood.
Steve Wilson, Developer
Steve has written software and run software development teams at IFX Online and Auditude, Inc. He might be a coder, but he's well-rounded--Steve has undergraduate degrees in engineering and history from Harvey Mudd College. Steve calls Rancho Penasquitos his home and makes regular rounds through the county's steak houses and pubs.
Ellen Brenner, Editor
Ellen has had a long career in the high-tech industry as a writer, editor, and electronic publisher, both as a freelancer and for such companies as Digital Equipment Corporation and Microsoft. Her current home in Mission Valley allows her easy access to her beloved ethnic eateries in City Heights, Kearny Mesa, and points beyond.
The design of our site and its HTML were produced by the talented individuals at Arseni Group.
Our community exists to share the good word on dining well in our city, and to introduce you to new and different restaurants that you might be missing.

Written by locals for locals, our community produces some of the most insightful recommendations and some of the best food writing in San Diego. We're a passionate group, dedicated to uncovering unique neighborhood joints and off-the-beaten-path finds--of course you'll find your favorite standbys here too.

The recommendations you see were chosen and prepared by their authors, based on their years of experience dining in this city. Restaurants are not assigned to writers. Advertising dollars do not influence our recommendations--we have our pride, people. That said, we'd love it if you printed and used the coupons we have sprinkled throughout the site, because they keep us in business.

Please poke around the site. When you're ready to participate, join us and climb through the ranks of San Diego's discriminating diners and drinkers.
